The first meeting of the 2010-2011 season was held at the home of Bob and Susan Meyer. It was a small meeting with only 13 in attendance, but we ate really, really well.

Since the Fuhr’s were not able to attend, Bob Meyer conducted the meeting. There was not a lot of business on the agenda. The February trip to La Petite was discussed and several possible attendees identified. The deposit is due soon and we have two cabins reserved. If we can’t get enough people to commit we will have to drop back to one cabin. There seem to be a lot of conflicts with that weekend in February this year.

The other item of discussion concerned the presidency of this august body. The Fuhrs have been our president for at least a couple or three years now, and it is time for someone else to take over. The group enthusiastically endorsed the concept of “president for only one year” then pass the torch to another couple. It was observed that the presidency of this body is not an onerous task. It just does not take a lot of time at all. Several potential candidates who were not in attendance were mentioned and Bob Meyer said he would contact some and seek a volunteer.

Everyone got a reprieve on the dues – dues will be due at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be held on November 21 at 4:30 PM at the Partch’s home. The menu will include turkey and Susan will bring dressing. Everyone else should pay attention to the web page and send in your menu choices!

The Christmas ornament exchange will be hosted by Bob and Shirley Metcalf on December 11.

Post meeting note: Bob and Susan Meyer have agreed to serve as president for this year, but the clear expectation is that they will turn over the reins to another couple for 2011-12.
