Another wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner a la Ski Club

Minutes of the Business Meeting

Potsdam Apres Ski Club
Saturday, November 18, 2006
Hosts: Trish and Bill Lewis

Attendees: Tellie & Dave Bray, Trish & Bill Lewis, Joan & Paul McGrath, Shirley & Bob Metcalf, Susan & Bob Meyer, Joanne & Dick Partch, and Sandy & Mel Tomalty.

Treasurer Report:

Old balance was $210.81, plus $60.00 in dues collected, paid $7.34 for Thanksgiving turkey to Lewis’s, minus $50.00 to the Holiday Fund. New balance $213.47, a full report of the Treasurer is available for your perusal. Future expected expenses are for ham for Christmas, main course for Derby Day. Lamb or meat for Summer Picnic. Dues are $15 a couple, $7.50 per single, for those not yet paid see Bob Metcalf. Perhaps we should consider going back to $10 a couple if Dick Partch does not plan on doing the lamb in the future because that is the reason we needed the extra money from dues.

Old business:

The Metcalf’s have asked everyone in the club to please start thinking about who will take over the Presidency next year. It was stated that the Metcalf’s have truly enjoyed serving you but are ready to turn over the reins to a new President.

Bob Meyer gave a report on the LaPetite Rouge cross country trip planned for February 2 – 4, 2007. He said they are set for people unless there is a single person who wants to go, for more information contact Bob Meyer.

The Metcalfs are organizing two trips again this year. The Smuggler’s Notch Trip (Burlington Vermont) is on January 12, 13 and 14, 2007. Last year, six ski club members traveled to the Anchorage Inn located across from the University Mall in Burlington: Shirley & Bob Metcalf, Jutta & Joe Fitzsimons, Joanne & Dick Partch. The same 6 people are booked again for this 2007 trip. Hopefully we will get more members joining us this year. If you don’t ski you can hit the mall across the street or soak in the Jacuzzi, and enjoy the social life.

The Whiteface Mountain trip will be in March, details to be announced. The Smuggler's Notch and Whiteface excursions include areas available for cross-country and snow-shoeing.

New business:

Shirley stated that in the past the club has donated money to a charity and if we were giving to the Holiday Fund it should be done now before the holidays. Trish Lewis stated that we should give the money now and that if we still have monies left over we can then give to another charity later. Trish made a motion to give $50 to the Potsdam Holiday Fund and a show of hands made it unanimous.

The next meeting will be the Christmas celebration on Sunday, December 17th at 4:30 p.m. Note the earlier time. There will be the traditional Spiral Ham and everyone should bring a wrapped Christmas ornament. Shirley will do calling for this meeting.

Russ and Heather Nelson will host the January Crosscountry, Soup and Sandwich Meeting on January 20th. Heather will do the calling for this meeting.

Joe and Jutta Fitzsimons will host a meeting in March or April, to be announced.

Susan and Bob Meyer will host Derby Day on May 5th.

A big round of applause was given to Trish & Bill for hosting, and to Dorothy who did the calling for this meeting.

There was a motion to adjourn the meeting, and a second Respectfully submitted

Respectfully submitted,
Robert P. Metcalf
