Minutes of the Business Meeting

Potsdam Apres Ski Club
Sunday, November 23, 2003
Hosts: Carolyn and Gene Kaczka's

Present: Doris and Ron Frazer, Sue and Bob Gibbs, Carolyn and Gene Kaczka, Joan LaComb and Paul McGrath, Judy Lowell, Dorothy Mein, Shirley and Bob Metcalf, Bob Meyer, Joanne and Dick Partch, Cathy and Bill Petersen. Also present were prospective members Sandy and Mel Tomalty, and guest Mark Lowell son of Judy Lowell.

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm.

Financial Business: Dues were collected from Doris and Ron Frazer, Shirley and Bob Metcalf, Carolyn and Gene Kaczka, and Joanne and Dick Partch. Carolyn was reimbursed $21.55 for the fresh turkey that was so deliciously prepared. It was agreed that the Club would again donate $50 to Hospice and also $50 to the Potsdam Holiday Fund. Ellen and Bob Burns Resigned from the club -- Bill Petersen remarked that this was because Bob could not afford the dues.

Bob Meyer reported on the progress of the La Petite Rouge Rendezvous scheduled for Feb 6 through 8. Bob reported that there was the possibility of a third cabin if there was sufficient interest. While Bob had the floor he also reported that during a recent student presentation in his class that a photograph of Bob in a ridiculous shamrock hat was shown. The photograph was originally posted on the Après Ski Club web site for all to see (I urge you to go to our club web site at www.40-below.com where you may find photographs of a possible demeaning nature that you may wish to have removed). On the subject of photographs - Bob Metcalf took over from Dave Bray as photographer for the November meeting - at the time I don’t remember Bob reading the Miranda rights on visual self incrimination.

For the benefit of Sandy and Mel, Bob Meyer briefly described typical activity at the annual Christmas ornament exchange including such devious behavior as ornaments being hidden in the bathroom by person or persons that will remain unnamed.

Bob Metcalf offered to provide information on Whiteface and Mt. Tremblant for those downhill skiers that may be interested, and also Marc Lowell offered information on cross-country skiing at Cranberry Lake. Joan handed out a Thanksgiving quiz -- where everybody learned a little turkey trivia. We ended the meeting with a Dash --

The quiz and reading are attached to (the hard copy of) these minutes. There being no more items for discussion the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.
