Minutes of the Potsdam Après Club Business Meeting
Meeting hosts: Jim and Margaret Thorp
Saturday, May 2, 1998
Present: Tellie & Dave Bray, Ellen & Bob Burns,
Doris & Ron Frazer, Sue & Bob Gibbs, Gene Kaczka,
Joan LaComb & Paul McGrath, Shirley & Bob Metcalf,
Susan & Bob Meyer, Russ Nelson, Cathy & Bill Petersen, Louise Straub,
and Margaret, Sarah, Zachery & Jim Thorp. (21 in attendance and 4 guests)
- Guests of the Thorps: Angie Machiniak and Andy Casper, recently arrived in Potsdam from
Chicago.
- Bob Burns paid his dues, plus the $1.50 never collected from the Derby Pot.
- Russ Nelson wanted to pay his dues, but he was told -- next year. It was too late in
the season. This was the last official meeting until Fall.
- Dave Bray asked if the members would like to have their E-mail listed on our membership
list. Bill Petersen was worried about privacy and suggested we just send the list to everyone
on paper. Otherwise, all were in favor, so Dave said he would remove anyone from the list that
didn't want it published, and asked for those that had an E-mail address we didn't know about
to tell us. Only the Meyers gave a corrected address.
- Dave announced that since the "Derby Day Hat Contest" had so many participants we would
have a vote take place on the Internet. Instructions will be on the Ski Club pages.
- It was noted that the next meeting would be the Family Picnic at the Frazers. Dave
reminded all that they should be prepared for swimming, boating and who knows what else. Ron
then noted that he no longer had a boat, but his daughter uses the camp and they have the boat.
- The callers for the picnic will be Ellen Burns and Joan LaComb.
- Bob Burns wanted to pass the basket to collect a tip for selling the tickets. However,
he just got thanked, and the $1.50 that was never collected from Pot 6 was donated to the club
along with Bob's dues for the current year.
- The last piece of business was the election of officers. It was noted that all but the
Metcalfs and the newest members this year had already been officers. It was expressed that
Shirley and Bob should do it next year. Shirley declined, but spoke to say that Dorothy and
Bill really liked being officers so we should re-elect them. Bob Burns then made a motion, and
Gene Kaczka seconded it. The vote was unanimous for the Meins.
- Jim introduced their guests: Angie and Andy.
Adjourned: 7:40 p.m.
Respectfully -- Dorothy Mein
