Thanks to Bob Meyer and Jay Nagel for these photographs.
Warm Weather
People arrived at various times throughout the day. The "early birds" got some skiing in. Others arrived in time for dinner. After dinner, some took the torch walk, went tubing or remained in their cabins and played cards. Linda introduced a new card game this year called Wizard. The "card sharks" couldn't come up with a strategy to outsmart other players. Even though some became frustrated, they had to admit it was a fun game.
The weather on Saturday and Sunday was the warmest anyone could remember. What little snow that fell helped some. Fortunately, David and Jay came to the rescue for those with waxless skis -- those that found themselves sticking to the snow instead of gliding. They had just the right glider wax to get everyone moving. They saved the weekend!
The lodge had extensive renovations, including making the dining room larger. The entertainer is now set up between the two rooms, which made for an even larger dance floor. All but a back corner in the dining area is non-smoking, which enabled people to be able to stay and dance on Saturday night -- many did. Most started out dancing with their boots on, but before the night was over, many ended up in their sock feet.
The office at the lodge, which was downstairs, is now upstairs and makes it handier for everyone, especially Suzanne. The downstairs has been opened up with some small rooms to the side. All done in knotty pine -- bright and cheerful.
As in previous years, Linda made sure no one was cold in their cabin. She continuously kept the wood stove full. She has definitely mastered starting and keeping a fire going. Unlike previous years, the cabin doors were left open more than closed.
Some trails were closed and the bridge on one trail was blocked off, even though a couple people ventured out and went that way to "test the waters." Could that have been the Gibbs?
Because it was even warmer on Sunday, Rebecca went skiing in a short sleeve t-shirt.
There was table discussion as to how many years people had been coming to LaPetite. The historian reports below who was in attendance this year and how many years they have been to LaPetite:
| Meyers | 12 | Buckley | 7 |
| Meins | 11 | Gibbs | 6 |
| Buchanans | 10 | Nelsons | 5 |
| Nagels | 9 | Batsons | 4 |
As always, it was a fun weekend with good food, not too bad skiing, and good company. Bob has reserved two cabins for next year: February 6, 7 and 8.
