The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm.

Joanne and Dick Partch were thanked for hosting the festive December meeting, and Cathy and Carolyn were thanked for calling.

Heather and Russ volunteered to host the January meeting on the 11th with the 18th as the no snow date. The meeting time was scheduled for 2PM with 4PM for sandwiches. Cathy Petersen and Dorothy Mein offered to perform the calling duties.

Financial Statement

As agreed to at the November meeting, Joan went to Hospice and the Potsdam Holiday Fund and presented them each with $50 on behalf of the Club. After reimbursing Joanne and Dick $55 for the outstanding spiral ham, and collection of remaining dues for the year, the balance for the Club now stands at $83.32.

Joan read an engineer’s view of Santa Claus (a copy is attached to these minutes).

Ornament Exchange

A discussion on the procedure of the ornament exchange was undertaken. Views regarding a new and more speedy approach were aired amidst pleas to adhere to tradition. Spurred on by the inclement weather, we dove into the foray of a streamlined procedure as a joyous convoy of snowplows sped by in the dark of the night - presumably searching for some wandering star.

Numbers were drawn and opening of the packages began in earnest.

  1. Ron picked first at 7:40
  2. Dorothy at 7:41 kept the package she opened as did the following:
  3. Cathy 7:42
  4. Heather 7:43
  5. Gene 7:44
  6. Judy 7:45
  7. Jutta 7:46
  8. Sue Gibbs 7:47
Then, as the first participant, Ron was afforded the opportunity to exchange (steal) any opened ornament… Ron declined.
  9. Tellie 7:49 exchanged (took) Heather’s Santa
  10. Susan 7:51 kept the ornament she opened as did:
  11. Joan 7:52
  12. Sandy 7:54
  13. Buckley 7:55
  14. Marta 7:56
  15. Dick 7:58 exchanged with Marta
  16. Shirley 8:00 opened and kept the final ornament.

As the ornament exchange was complete the meeting was immediately adjourned allowing one and all to brave the weather in the true spirit of the season - despite the weather outside being frightful.
