Potsdam Après Ski Club

April Dinner Meeting at Ellen and Bob Burns'
April 7, 2001

Spring is Here.
But the meeting tone was a little serious.

An hors d'oeuvre table with no one around -- what's going on??
Maybe there was just much to discuss since we have not had a meeting since January.

Late Breaking News

The Newly "Elected" Ski Club Secretary and President

Heather and Russ Nelson

Minutes of the Business Meeting

Potsdam Apres Ski Club
Meeting Hosts: Ellen and Bob Burns

The meeting was called to order at 8:10 (with the help of Jim Thorp's whistle and our hostess' bell!) by President Bob Gibbs.
Present were: Dave and Tellie Bray, Bob and Ellen Burns, Joe and Jutta Fitzsimmons, Ron and Doris Frazer, Bob and Sue Gibbs, Judy Lowell, Joan LaComb and Paul McGrath, Bob and Shirley Metcalf, Bob and Susan Meyer, Russ and Heather Nelson, Dick and Joanne Partch, Louise Straub, and Jim and Margaret Thorp.

Ellen and Bob were thanked for their gracious hospitality, and Joan LaComb and Dorothy Mein were thanked for being callers. The unofficial "minutes" of the January gathering at Nelsons' were read and approved. The treasurer reported that with the addition of dues tonight, the balance on hand is $175.10. A recent dues-payer noted that his dues would be paid at the first meeting of next year, and he would make sure that enough small bills would be available to make change--in case a prospective dues-payer has a very large bill!

Old Business: A letter of thanks from the Potsdam Holiday Fund (for our donation of $100.00) was circulated. It will be placed in the club's archives.

Susan Meyer reported that the snow at La Petite was phenomenal, the temperatures pleasant, the new trail completely open--and that everyone had a wonderful time.

New Business: The Derby Day meeting will be held on May 5th at Kaczkas'. Shirley Metcalf and Jutta Fitzsimmons volunteered as callers. "Outrageous dress"--or at least, hats--will be the order of the day. (One member commented that not all of us need to dress in order to be outrageous, which led to a recommendation that one had better not show up in his birthday suit!)

Dick Partch generously agreed to perform the duties of lamb roaster again this year, and offered their home as the location. The date has been tentatively set for Saturday, August 4th, and will be finalized at the May meeting.

Since the May meeting is the last session to be held under the current officers, a new president and secretary/treasurer were asked to take over. Heather and Russ Nelson were congratulated for very kindly volunteering for the job(s) for the coming year.

Having no additional business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25.

Respectfully submitted,

Sue Gibbs, secretary

P.S. This may have been the shortest meeting on record!
